I had an antepost bet on Anthem Alexander last Wednesday for the Phoenix Stakes ( took place last Sunday) but he was a late non runner. My question is am I entitled to a refund seeing as he made the final list and was then withdrawn?

Afraid not. He's a non runner so money gone unless it specifically stated non runner no bet. Check with the bookmaker anyway, worst they can say is no money back.

If he was withdrawn, no. If he was balloted out, yes.

In this case withdrawn due to the ground so no luck.

Even if she made it to the start and then refused to go into the stalls, you'd still do your money.

Thanks for all the replies.I'll hand it in but I'm not expecting any joy.

I understand antepost rules and all that but when final declarations are out why should your bet still be subject to antepost rules?

e.g. If I bet on Faugheen tomorrow for the Champion Hurdle and on the morning of the race he gets an injury, it seems unfair that after waiting over 6 months and getting him declared that I wouldn't get a refund. There should be some cut off point.

Agree its frustrating. If I am to bet ante post I only ever bet NRNB

It works both ways, that way if there were 10 non runners on the day but your horse was still there you'd face a load of rule fours

That's what I'm saying it doesn't, but if they refunded ante post bets that were declared but then became non runners there would be rule 4's
