Re related post. Job done with adhesive and self tappers ! So far so good!

Went a bit too far with timber lat.

I can't cut this as its in an awkward area with saw.
Is there some sort of an electric saw that I could run across this foot long extra bit to cut it off without destroying the plasterboard ...... thks .......paddy

Dude, pick yourself up a 'Japenese' saw and use your 'electric' arm.
The Japenese or sometimes called flush trim saw/pull saw are the dogs testicals for getting into tight spots as well as being execellent for flush cutting wooden plugs and the like.

Paddy, in all fairness, it was not rocket science to measure before you put it up.

Is there not fixings through the piece he wants to cut off and may this compromise the strength of the fix of the lat.

No not an issue. Its basically stick on.
Put a few screws in through timber to plaster board to assist it to stick.just need to cut a foot or so off.
Thought curtains would cover it...

What kind of self tappers did you use as in your other thread the plugs were just spinning around?

You opened another thread on this initially and were given some advice, but you ploughed ahead with an eyesore of a baton (not required) and adhesive, probably tec 7 or "no more nails" which will leave you with heartache if you ever need to take it down. A small bit of patience on your part would have ended with a far better result.

This type of fitting would have been best suited for the job.

Tried all those fittings. Insufficient room behind plaster to hold. Im happy with result ..
Yet to be painted.
