Sick after annual leave

    Hi,

I'm hoping someone can answer a quick question for me. I'm just back from a long weekend mini-break thingy. Had three days off work. I was sick for the entire holiday (was actually beginning to get sick before I left and was still going to work) - definitely don't think I could work tomorrow though.
Is there any strange rule involving calling in sick on the first day you're supposed to be back in after a holiday? Apart from the obvious - it looks dodgy - there's nothing up with doing it, is there?
I didn't think so but someone is after making me doubt myself.

As an aside, I'm not looking to claim the time back or anything now - I still took my holiday, but just had a sad, sleepy, old time on it.

There's no law, no, but company policy may frown on it without a doctor's note. For the record, as far as I'm aware if you're certified ill while on your annual leave, you can technically ask your employer for those days back, but I've never in my life heard of anyone doing it, or any employer just offering it off their own bat.

    Here it is:

    Sick leave and annual leave
If you are ill during your annual leave and have a medical certificate for the days you were ill, these sick days will not be counted as annual leave days. Instead, you can use these days as annual leave at a later date.

Note if you go down that route that there's no obligation on the employer to pay you for the sick leave (whereas annual leave is paid). This would really only be of benefit if you wanted to take the days some other time.

Yep, you're confirming everything I was thinking.
I'm definitely not looking to claim the time back but I don't want it to look bad me calling in tomorrow.
I might head in and let them send me back home to bed, or just head off to the doctor either.
    Cheers for the reply!
