That's mad money that's not even a desirable engine compared to the diesel. it's a very ordinary 1.4 litre engine

Yeah, but that's honda for you, they are more expensive than most.

Plus they are better built and more reliable, less numbers sold so price of secondhand holds it's value well....too well some say.

    Nicer colour too imo.

What about the new Kia Ceed? Granted it will not hold it's value like the Civic but this one is 2 years younger for similar money and has most of the 7 year warranty left:

Lads, hijacking this and apologising in advance. But on the subject of civics, what do you think of this ?

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/honda-civic/7367863

    Pitfalls ? Pricing ? Anything relevant ?

    Cheers

No mention of mileage so assume it is high. On UK plates so presume the price doesn't include VRT. Is the seller a dealer or just a randomer selling cheap UK reg cars from the side of the road? Why not go to NI/UK and buy one yourself, why pay a middleman who offers nothing in the way of comeback?

Check for clutch slip on those 2.2s.

An ordinary 1.4 litre engine is grand for a lot of people though, vast majority of my driving is local so rarely get above 55kph :(

Is there much of a difference spec & quality wise between the two?

    I quite like the Civic

Same crowd have had this one up for ages

Point is, the diesel in the Civic is bang up to date, and the 1.4 petrol isn't. The money they're asking for that car is too much.

Compared to a VW TSI engine, or even the Kia/Hyundai CVVT 1.4 engine from 7 years ago, its a bit of a letdown.

How much do you think it's over priced by?

Why do you feel it's a bit of a letdown?

Spec wise the Kia is not far off the Civic. Not much in the difference between build quality either, interior in both will never be as posh as that in a Golf but they are both less conservative and well screwed together.

That's a SE which is slightly lower spec than the ES that the OP linked, still doesn't justify the high price though.

That ceed linked earlier is quite a basic model, manual AC, windey windows in the back, steel wheels etc.
Much better value for money though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,481 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Not a huge choice spec wise in fairly new petrol models.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,220 ✭✭✭✭Lex Luthor

the petrol ceed is just one spec from what i can see

still decent enough for what she needs

Nice. In fairness it makes a lot of sense, practically new and most of the 7 year warranty remaining.
