Block Wall Paint Job

    Hi all,

I am trying to figure out the best way to deal with finishing a concrete block garden wall.

I had a cement render in mind but the logistics of the job are a bit tricky due to having no external access to the garden.

I have been reading up on external texture paint for covering the block work (which is reasonably clean and well pointed) and I have found online products that are available in Australia, but can not seem to find something which is the obviously the same product here.

The product I'm on about is a thick texture paint which can be finished almost like plaster with a float and that and will cover over the blockwork.

Anyone got any ideas a similiar product here? Or, is readily available exterior masonary paint something that will do the job?

    Cheers!

Terylene. Comes in all different colours. You can get it in Chadwick's Building Suppliers.

    Cheers for the reply.

    I'll look into that so.

I looked into that Terylene stuff and what I can make out it's still just a render essentially, that is applied either by spraying or trowled on, yes?

The product I am talking about is more a roller applied paint that is thick and can be finished with a float effectively covering cracks and pointing giving a render type finish.

There is a youtube video of some lady demonstrating the paint, but I cannot post a link.

Anyway, if anyone know's of a product available here, that'd be great....

Is it Tyrolean by any chance??

I think that's the same thing really; Tyrolean/ Terylene it's still a plaster type product.

The stuff I'm talking about is Dulux Full Texture Cover roll on paint, it would seem it doesn't exist here - perhaps it doesn't really work anyway!

I liked the idea of being able to roll the product on as opposed to having to trowl or spray on as with the Tyrolean/ Terylene.

    Jaysus, blast from the past.

I haven't tackled that job since - other bits and bobs have come first... Some day!

The synthetic plaster seems to be the best option anyway. That other paint product (which looks dead handy) isn't available here as far as I know.
