Hi. I'm looking for a charger for my 2011 MacBook Air, however I only need the flex that connects from the laptop to the small box on the charger. I'm not even sure what this part is called but I only need to replace this part. Does anyone know where I could get this piece only? Have tried a few shops but no joy

Apple are pretty protective over their magsafe connector (they don't allow other parties manufacture them), but you can find the cable sections on eBay if you look.

However replacing the cable isn't a small job - the white transformer block is a sealed unit, and as such the best bet is probably splicing the wires of the new connector onto a good section of the old wiring - a major weak point in the cabling from there on in, even if you do know what you are doing.

TBH I'd be replacing the whole transformer if it were me - they aren't cheap new, but you can get decent secondhand ones on eBay for a reasonable price.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. The cable section is actually removable from the transformer. That's why I thought you could get seperate replacements. Will have a look on ebay any way. Thanks

Might be worth ringing Apple. They USED to sell them separately via Telephone support, rather than Apple Store.
