I appreciate the work that has gone into concourse restorations. My brother restored a Triumph Spitfrie to a very high standard over a two year period, and the work, time and money that went into it was immense. But, if I was two identical cars side by side at a show, one a concourse restoration and the other a driver, I'd spend more time looking at the driver.

Jaguar Land Rover have reformed their Special Vehicles Operation, in the past they just did special builds on new vehicles but now they are going to do restorations as well.

I said it here before that afir SAAB way back in the 50's/60's would actually take your 92 and refurbish it.

A lot of stuff out there for the serious restorer with time and money - whether the time/effort financially viable is another thing.

Suppose Aston Martins etc. worth a lot more in perfect nick than a restored Herald

Think I read somewhere that to get a Mercedes W108 done by Mercedes takes up to two years, and a six figure sum... maybe I dreamt it though!

This non-MB resto seemed to take a long time http://www.mbca.org/forum/2013-02-26/1970-300sel-63-restoration
