Philippines or India ?

Torn between the Philippines and India end of next month for 2 weeks.

Was thinking of flying into Bombay and then get an internal flight down to Kerala.

Or get a flight to Manila and then get an internal flight down to one of the islands in the south.

Flight costs aren't really that much of a concern, Philippines is a bit more expensive at the moment.

What would you go for ?

Just back from the Philippines myself and I'd recommend it, it's a bit like America with English and foods etc. also you won't find that much cultural stuff like Thailand or India but its rapidly developing and with the English language it's easy. From what I've heard India is an absolute dump and for a woman you can expect lots of hassle in India, so the PH is a better option.The Phils is cheap, cheaper than Thailand. Nice hotels from €25/€30-night.

Avoid Manila Airport it's a dump beyond your worst imagination, no air con and queues everywhere. Cebu and the visayas is where to go and if you want Indian style 3rd world check out Manila or Angeles City (Angeles is the biggest dump in the PH).

Boracuay is getting over commercialised with hordes of obnoxious Korean tourists so you'd do well to see the smaller islands. Bohol and Camiguin or Iloilo The Philippines doesn't suffer from the backpacker scourge like Thailand and it mainly attracts Koreans, Japanese and white guys with their Filipina girlfriends or worse yet rent a girlfriend although sex tourism is mainly in Angeles.

Take euros and change to Philippine peso for the best rate in the massive sprawling malls which are in every city there. Take a pasalubong to really impress the locals. The women there are truely amazing and it's easy to see how many guys find love there.

Never been to Philippines but Kerala would be my recommendation. Pretty much your decision though, in terms of what you are looking for. If its a wife maybe Stinicker can advise lol
