MacBook Air RevA HD issue

Hi folks, I have a RevA (1st gen MBA) which has previously had an HD die, it appears to have happened again (Im getting the grey screen of death) but.... If i start up in Cmd + S mode, i can run fsck which tells me the drive appears to be ok If i start up in verbose mode I get an I/O error report anyone know whats at issue…

A liitle further info...

It wont boot from the install disk via remote install either, would this suggest a logic board failure?
