    Hi,

A recently inherited one I got won't start. Going to check the spark plug and fuel, but can anyone tell me what, if any, additional stuff I need to add to the petrol ? I've heard various things, like oil (seperate to the oil compartment itself).

    Thanks in advance,
    R

Do you mean B&S as in Briggs and Stratton? I'd start with spark plug to see if it is sparking, ground the side. Check the fuel filter, clean the air filter etc

Drain the Fuel tank first as modern petrol is of such poor quality that after even one winter it turns to a gel which blocks up jets etc. You could try clearing it by removing jets and using Carb Cleaner. A new Spark plug and filter won;t do any harm either.
