I put in a vacation request online but did not get an acknowledgement. The request is for two weeks from now. Does anybody know how I get informed that my request is accepted? I do not want to go away without being sure that it is accepted.

You needed to give at least 2 weeks notice of the vacation. Did you? If you have to go away in an emergency you will have to go, but someone will have to go to the SW office to explain, otherwise you claim will be suspended.

Yep, I made the application yesterday for two weeks starting in two weeks time. The information said, minimum 10 days notice.

Does anyone know if they reply or how long it takes for them to reply? Should I go in to the office and fill out the form there to make sure?

Are you sure that your local office provides this facility? Have a look at your office on this list and see does it provide this service https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/List-of-Social-Welfare-Local-and-Branch-Offices-by-County.aspx

My local office is parnell street, D1 They are listed on the online form. There should be an email confirmation that they have the request. IMO

I also applied on-line within the 2 weeks and heard nothing from them. No acknowledgement or anything. My local office is Dun Laoghaire. So I'm wondering now I seen your post if there is a problem with their on-line system.

In that case, maybe it is best to call them and checkmif they got it. I think I might go in and fill out an actual form to make sure. Inneficiency seems to be the problem here.

Any time I've sent the online form in I have never gotten a reply. The first time I sent one in I found out after not receiving my payment that their email's weren't getting through. So I always ring to confirm anymore.

Just call to confirm. if it hasn't gone through and you go away you'll be the one who gets in trouble. trust me. i got nailed for 2 days JSA after signing off on line (for an immediate start) when i started my new job. It was only after i called to confirm that i had to repay my money and i got a stern talking to.

Thanks. I called yesterday to confirm and was told they got it. They never send confirmations, which I think is something they should do to avoid confusion and to add transparency to their process. I was told my payment would resume upon my return. I presume I get the two weeks backdated upon return? I was also asked to bring in flight details after I return. I do not think they can ask for that. In any case, I will find that very difficult as I am only travelling by car to co. Clare for the two weeks. :-)

I got asked by the CWO for my flight details when i was waiting for my disability. They can indeed ask for proof of you travelling, even if it is up the country. Petrol receipts, hotel confirmation, they can pretty much ask you for anything and they won't pay you until they get it :( which is a pain in the arse.

so how do I provide receipts of travelling across country as a passenger in a friends car?

They are looking for some kind of proof that you weren't working for two weeks. Bring them something. Presumably you are not sleeping in the car/ just some evidence that you are on holidays.
DSP can ask you to supply them with just about anything, at any time, if you are in receipt of a payment and its pointless trying to argue with that.

Selfies of you with the day's newspaper at various roadsigns throughout Ireland?

Get your friends to tie you to a chair for some of them, make it look like a kidnapping.

Not so sure about that, but that is an argument for another day. Do you work in the DSP? I get the feeling these boards are patrolled by such public workers.

Also, I cannot produce something I do not have. If I travel across the country by car to visit my mother, I have no receipts as she does not charge me. Also, if I produced a train ticket or plane ticket, this does not prove I was not working. Duh! :-)

Or set my smartphone location tracking service to transmit my whereabouts directly to the DSP. Might as well go the full Orwellian way as we are at it.
