Why do people in Ireland think it is safe to park/pull up at the side of a roundabout? I have only seen this done in Ireland, I realise it is probably a training issue, but do people not realise that roundabouts can be dangerous enough and people need clear visibility. I honestly could not think of a more stupid place to park. - though I am sure there are. Just thought of a new thread!

I have only seen this once and it was by foreign visitors that rented a car and burned the clutch off it at Dublin airport roundabout.

    Go down to Belmullet.
They double park on the roundabout in the middle of the town!!

I realise it is probably a training issue,

Its not a training issue; its down to a simple lack of basic intelligence. You cant train common sense unfortunately.

You see this kind of nonsense all the time. The other one that pisses me off is people stopping dead in the middle of the road to take a phone call, because they think this consitututes not driving while on the phone. Some people are, unfortunately, just simply morons.

In Kanturk they bottled out (no doubt to appease the shop-keepers) when they installed the mini-roundabout and painted in neither parking bays , like the rest of the road,or double yellows and people regularly park on the roundabout as a result.

I once encountered an old dear who parked up on the RH lane of a roundabout so she could get out and pick/rob the flowers the Council had planted in the centre.

Saw the thread, was going to mention Belmullet. You end up reversing onto it too from parking spots

I've seen some stupid people stop on roundabout (to my right) to let me through like it's some kind of minor road with yield sign for them, so doesn't surprise me if somebody also parks on one.

Drive around the Pavillions shopping centre in ASwords, any day of the week and you will see lots of cars parked on the roundabout - also on the back raod between Swords Manor and Knocksedan you see Dublin Bus drivers stopping on the roundabout to have their break - mad or wha

there's a lady that does it every morning outside the Kildare Outlets, passanger waiting on the bus I'd presume. It appears to me people get to a certain age and just presume the rules of the road dont apply to them.

It happens every day here in Enniscorthy, people park on the roundabout so as to save the extra 30 seconds of walking from the car park to the Credit Union.

Used to happen a lot on the headford road roundabout in Galway. five exit roundabout dual carriageway going through it. Absolute madness. Atleast that is a good reason for them getting rid of them!

Happens at the marshes shopping centre in dundalk
A coach company runs a service from there and cars are abandoned everywhere .
Apparently on Tuesday the Garda and a towing company were taking them away

Yes those people who pull over at the side of a motorway to take a call - because this is obviously safe! A breakdown lane is exactly that not a place to park up!
