Cost of root canal and block inlay(ceramic)

I have a molar that has been falling apart. There was little to it apart from filling. My dentist recommended that I get a root canal with crown. I paid 500E after the first part of the process and from my perusal of their website I thought this was for the whole process.

Because of the poor state of my tooth it was decided after a few visits to place a block inlay instead. I was then told I owe another 600E. For a total of 1100E I would have been better off to pay more and get an implant.

I suppose I have a few questions. What is the normal Irish price for a root canal and crown? What is the normal total price for an inlay? And as I have much more work to get done, am only working as an intern while my savings are becoming as eroded as my teeth, Could someone PM where is the best value no-risk dentist in Dublin Centre and South Dublin?
