The battery is good. I can here the fuel pump switching on. Half a tank of petrol.

No engine lights and the cars runs fine when it starts.

Occasionally it will just turn over but wont kick, sometimes it will just turn over and over and sometimes it will try to fire. When turning over it will suddenly stop with a thud the continue to turn over. Then after a few minutes it will fire up and I'm away.

This morning however it will not start at all. The battery went flat so I jumped it from another car and let it charge for about 15 minutes. Then I turn it over and after a minute or so I smell burning and see smoke from around the throttle body area but did not find any melted wires etc.

Any ideas? I checked the crank shaft sensor wires and the seem clean and in good order. Check the plug leads and connector on the throttle body and all seems OK.

id check the altenator first with a multi meter battery should be 12v with car not running and around 14v when it is running probably explains where the smoke came from , hope this helps

A healthy automotive battery will show 12.6v at full charge. Charging voltage is usually around 14.3v.

    New Battery solved it!!

Battery needed replacement anyway....put a new battery in and she has been starting fine ever since!

    Voltage regulator maybe???
