Sky+ HD box without a sub functionality?

    Hi all, I'm looking for some clarification please...

    If I cancel my sky subscription and remove my viewing card and just use my sky+ HD box as a basic receiver will I be still able to view all of the FTA channels? Obviously I will not be able to record.
    1. I assume stuff like live pause will no longer work either as the pvr functionality is switched off?
    2. Will I still be able to watch the manually added 'other channels'?
    3. Does the EPG remain as Ireland or does it switch to the UK when the card is removed?

    I know this has been asked in the past but just wanted to confirm what the current situation is.

    remember the irish stations are not fta on sky.

    Box works as is for the free channels, the EPG stays on Ireland. Recording and pause will not work. Irish channels are not free. Why not invest in a Freesat box?

    I am considering that but am just seeing what my options are.

    I have a sky multiroom sub, 1 box in living room + 1 box in bedroom. Living room box will be replaced by Humax HDR-1000S box. I am considering what to do with the bedroom box. My OH and I never use it to record so I'm wondering is it a waste of money (€240) to buy the same humax box to replace it when I could just leave the existing bedroom sky box in place and watch the fta channels :)
