Certifid Color Copy of passport

Need a certified color copy of passport. Have rung a few solicitors that they don't have a color copier. They asked me to come in with color copies.

Can you please let me know if some where in north Dublin that can provide certified color copy? What is the charge since I need a few documents certified?

I do have a color printer, if I take a photo of the doc and print the photo, I guess it will read the same, but may not be the same size, would this be acceptable?

    Best Regards,

    Jen

I was under the impression you can get it certified for free at Garda station, no?

Get it photocopied in a stationary shop or internet cafe for less than a euro and the gardai will stamp the copy for free

depening on why you need it certified, you may or may not be allowed to have a garda sign and stamp it.

I needed a certified colour copy recently, I copied it in work and had a Notary Public certify three document copies for £50 (~€60).

read the guidlines for your puroses, mine could only be certified by one of the following: (you're might specify something different)

    3. The following classes of persons are authorised to
    certify copies of documents:

    • An officer of an Australian Diplomatic Post
    • A Notary Public authorised in the country of
    application
    • A Commissioner for Oaths (Declarations)
authorised in the country of application
    • A Solicitor, Barrister or Judge authorised in
Australia or in the country of application
    • A Justice of the Peace authorised in Australia or
    in the country of application
    • A migration agent registered with the Migration
    Agents Registration Authority (MARA)

Thank you all so much for the quick and detailed reply. I should have more detail on the requirement. Thought it was a general practice.
Taking from the form, it says

"In order to make a certified copy, you must take your original certificates/documents to your solicitor or a notary public, commissioner for oaths or peace commissioner and ask them to make a photocopy of each document and certify that it is a true copy of the original i.e. stamp and sign it “True copy of the original”."

"A certified colour copy of the page of your current passport/travel document containing your photograph."

The real problem is the few solicitors I asked, they don't have color copiers. And charges vary. I like to know how to get a color copy or somewhere I can get certified color copy.

    Thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Jen

Reddin's in Skerries certainly used to do colour photocopying.

You could give them a ring. If they don't do it, they will know someone who does.

Paper Pieces upstairs in Raheny Shopping Centre do it too.

The copy doesn't have to be made by the solicitor. Just make a colour copy yourself and bring it along with the original. The solicitor will then certify it.

Thanks for all the replies. I got it done today.

I went to the stationary place in Raheny, upstairs from Supervalue and got the exact color copy of my passport for .95 cents, no questions asked.

Then went across the Howth road, to Gaffney Halligan & Co. Solicitors, with a couple of declarations and a few certified copies of documents, 30 euro. I'm pretty happy that it is done.

Thanks a lot for your response.

    Best Regards,

    Jen

Did they do an exact size copy of the passport? Any time i've asked them to do that in Reads they tell me that it is not allowed so i end up with an oversized copy.

Just an update on this, the garda does not certify documents anymore. I was just in 2 stations today and they both told me the same thing. Now I have to pay someone to do it :(

A peace commissioner will do it for free, its a public service BUT don't be arrogant about it, it's taking time out of their day, so be polite and gracious.

Try your local councillors as they are often peace commissioners. Pop into your local Garda station, they will have a list of peace commissioners (the younger Gardai will probably look puzzled, but explain it to them). They will ring a couple off the list and if one is available they will pass you the peace commissioners number.

I've used it several times myself.

They don't have to do it but if they do they can't charge is it?

why would a professional do work for nothing?

A peace commissioner doesn't charge for the service, a solicitor or commissioner for oaths will charge.

That's not what their regulating body says

    Rubbish.

The going rate for a certified Copy is €10 from a Solicitor, they charge but it isn't exactly key to their business model so most are pretty flexible about 2 for 1 etc.

I've heard of some charging €50. Madness.
