how far is furthest paddock away from well? how many cows? buring pipes? ball valve, not sure if they make any diffference which one is on a trough. dont know about pipes. id say local co-op wouldnt be too far out. i have 3/4 inch pipes here. replacing bit by bit wit inch. a lot of loads would prob have 1 1/2 pipes but we wont go there

+1,they provide a good service ,going to have to bore a well here next year and going to get terra to put in 1 inch loop around farm with fast flow valves.have 250 gallon troughs at moment and only 1/2 inch pipe carrying water, just about scraping by but on very warm days trough can be empty .im also on a group scheme paying 120 a 1/4 seemingly going to betaken over and could be looking at a bill of north of 5 to 6 k a year for water

The technical way to work out the correct pipe size is to calculate the distance to the furthest away paddock.
Charts like these will give you the pressure drop then along that distance of pipe. If you know the supply pressure (from mains etc) then allow say 75% of this value for the pressure drop. That will give you the delivery (litres /sec). You will have to match this then to the number of cows you have. To increase delivery, just go to a higher pipe size.

Had them in for a massive job. Wasn't that impressed with them. Pipes were to be buried under ditch crossings and were not. Wasn't fun in 2010 freeze with no water for 360 cattle
