    Hi all.

We have our first baby and are hoping to get a hard earned week away somewhere warm (and relatively cheap).

We'd prefer to be near a beach or an interesting town. We arent big nightlife people.

A friend has recommended Malta, any other good ideas for a family holiday please?

    Thanks

Have a look at Sunset Beach Club, Benalmadena in Costa del Sol. The weather should still be very nice there in Sept/Oct. You would fly into Malaga so it would be a short enough flight with a little one.

The complex is really set up for families, it is right on the beach and has a prom right next to it which means you can go for nice walks in the evening down to the Marina with a buggy.

    Hi OP,

Would second this idea although you'ld probably get more out of it with older kids. It's a great family hotel. Make sure you request an external room though.

Malta nice too - a while since I've been there - but flight is longer than Spain.

Should have said that Paloma Park in Benalmadena is a fantastic spot for buggy walks too. It's safe and relaxed and free.

Considering weather at that time of year one place I went to was Zakinthos /Zante a few years ago, it's one of the Greek Islands so weather is better compared to south of Portugal at that time of year which I'd recommend otherwise. The area of the island I was on Alikanas seemed to be family orientated and very quiet. There is a nice main town on the Island with some nice restaurants which I'd have preferred being near but I'm not sure if there was a beach near it. The south of the island is for the nightlife but it's a big enough place that it can be completely avoided. Not sure how much current prices are for there but at the time it was cheap compared to other hols in Malta etc.

My own preference would be Portugal as it's a short flight but just can be iffy with the weather the later you leave it and prices seem to have gone up this year.

    Thanks guys

We are probably going in October now, so will take a look at prices for Costa del Sol, Zakinthos and Malta.

I am a bit concerned about the weather in Portugal.

Fariones Playa in Puerto del Carmen would be nice at that time of the year. Not exciting or different, but relaxing. The flight is longer, but it is only 10 minutes from the airport by taxi. Further south, so better weather than mainland Spain or Portugal.

Thanks A2Lue42, I missed your post. Ill take a look at Fariones Playa as well. Hopefully we can find a cheap deal.

If you're considering Lanzarote, check out the Costa Sal in Matagorda.

I've been a few times, most recently with a three month old and four year old (turned five since our return). It's perfect for babies. The main pool and kids pool at the upper level are heated all year and the staff are great with kids of all ages and are happy to move things around to accommodate a pushchair or pram.

It's very reasonable too and they'll provide a cot in a 1 bed apartment free of charge.

think about south of france, algarve or south of spain. Three or 4 hours flight is a long time with a baby if they don't settle.

We have been in Portugal for the past 4 years in October, for the Portugal Masters which is usually held aroud 10th, 11th October. We have been very lucky. Beautiful weather during the day, shorts and t-shirts, cooler in the evenings. But we were there the end of June this year and it was cool in the evenings too. It gets dark earlier too. It is a beautiful time of the year to go. We are going from 29th Sept. to 8th October, and I know it will be lovely. Can't wait. PM me if you need to know more.
