    I'm planning on going into St. John of Gods hospital for their alcohol treatment programme. I really need to stop drinking.

    I was wondering if anyone here has done the alcohol programme in St. John of Gods and what their experience of it was like? Thanks!

    Best of luck

    I haven't myself but know people who have as I also had to give up drinking. It has helped an awful lot of people and what I would say is just go with an open mind and be prepared to think & do things outside your comfort zone.

    One of the best saying in alcoholic treatment is this;

    The person you were will drink again
    the person you were will have to drink again

    This is the emphaisis of change in any recover program. It just doesn't work if you don't change your previous way of thinking because that way of thinking needed drink to live every day life.

    It will be tough just know that and be prepared to put in the effort to change your life. I hope it works out for you and again wish you the best of luck.

    Well I'm now a week in St John of Gods and fully detoxed. I start the 28 day alcohol programme tomorrow. I've net some really sound people in here too.

    My relationship with the booze is hopefully at a permanent end.:)
