iPad 4 broken touch screen

Hi, I just stepped on our iPad. The screen cracked. I know I can have this repaired. But the top half of the touch screen is not responding to touch. So I obvious did some physical damage when I put pressure on it. I don't understand the inner-workings and can't find any info on a similar problem.
Does anyone know if this means it is a goner or can it be repaired?
    Thanks

Unresponsve screen can happen with a cracked screen, suspect a screen replacement is all you need.

That would be great flyguy. We had a repair done last year. The corner of the screen seems to have come loose and lifted a bit after I stepped on it, so fingers crossed that's all it is!
    Cheers
