Hey guys, does anyone have any handy tips or tricks for storing vegetables to keep them fresh for as long as possible? For example I store my carrots in a container lined with a damp paper towel and they last for ages. I'm looking for tips on storing potatoes, onions, garlic and tomatoes in particular, but any tips are much appreciated! I hate wasting food :P

I store all my veg in a cool, dark, dry spot under the stairs in the kitchen. Salad stuff (leaves, celery & cucumbers) go in the chiller box in the fridge.
