Just discovered this deal from Aviva..~€600 for 6month insurance as a named driver under my father's policy with Aviva and 12 free driving lessons.

Just wondering about the driving lessons, there's something about an accompanying driver? Does this mean my father has to accompany me during the driving lesson?

Also, are there are other hidden details about this deal? All seems too good to be true

No, your father does not need to go with you on the driving lessons, but he will be the only person allowed to accompany you in the car when you do your practice driving sessions.

Ahh, that explains it perfectly. So he is the only person allowed to accompany me whilst driving around the town?

I have 6 months free while paying just over 400€ for 13 lessons. Would that not work out cheaper? (I'm on my dad's policy also)

    I'm on OneDirect (under Aviva)

That's probably the closer price. The 600 I was saying is an estimate as I couldn't remember the price at the time. Could you clear this up..is my father the only person that's allowed accompany me whilst driving around a town etc? As in, the only person allowed to act as the full licensed driver accompanying me.

If it is his car and his insurance policy, then only the people named on that policy can be your accompanying driver. This Aviva deal comes up here quite often. From reading other posts about it here, I think that if there are other family members on the policy, then they can drive with you too, as long as they have held full licenses for at least two years.

Ah, I've got it then. Thank you.

No, anybody with a full license of 2 years in the same category of car iirc. Just has to be the car in question. So your mam could be your accompanying driver in the insured car

Anyone with a full license for two years can be your accompanying driver, when it comes to just abiding by the letter of the law. But when it comes to this Aviva deal, that the OP is asking about, Aviva have certain conditions in place. One of them is that they will only allow the people named on the Aviva policy to be the accompanying driver for the learner.

Perfectly clear, but I didn't ask for any extras yet I'm allowed to be driving with my uncle and other people.
