Coming home at the end of the month for a while, I want to bring my parents to a wonderful hotel in Ireland, I was thinking of Dromoland Castle, but is there anywhere else that you can recommend. Nothing in Dublin as its too close to home :)

Never been to Dromoland, but I can highly recommend both The Europe in Killarney & Ballynahinch Castle in Recess, Connemara.

The Europe's setting on Lough Lein is spectacular & the pool & spa are rightly very highly regarded internationally.

Ballynahinch Castle's a gem too & my folks have a real soft spot for it. It'd certainly be more traditional in feel & ambience if that's a consideration.

Thanks, last time i did this we ended up in Connemara, so Killarney sounds like an interesting idea.

Can highly recommend Pax House in Dingle. It is a boutique hotel (no.1 on Tripadvisor for Dingle) with incredible view, service that is out of this world and food that is top class.

A little bit different from 5 star hotels that have been recommended but it is a real hidden gem.

As a more "mature" person who enjoys a touch of luxury, it ticks all the boxes for me.

Wherever you choose I hope your parents have a blast.

+1:on dromoland you could also try ballymaloe in west cork. Mount juilet in kilkenny is supposed to be nice.

The Park in Killarney is nice. The Europa in Killarney is also meant to be very nice but quite pricy for meals and drinks. Sheen Falls in Kenmare is wonderful too.

Based on the recommendations here, I tried out both Sheen Falls in Kenmare and Dromoland. Both were amazing, excellent food and extremely helpful staff, nothing was a problem for them in either place.

Not the cheapest week in Ireland, but well worth it just to see the smile on my parents faces.

    Thanks for the advice :)

Little did i know that it would be my last trip with my parents, my mom passed away yesterday from a very rapid pancreatic cancer..... Certainly that wasn't the reason for my trip, but right now I'm remembering and savouring every minute of it.
