hot water runs out quickly, and pipes rattle when water get hot

    Hi guys

    Again I'm looking for your thoughts on a problem we are having. We moved into a house about a year or so ago and notice that if we leave the immersion on for say 2 hours the water heats up totally boiling but the pipes in the attic rattle like hell, and we have to run the tap to get the noise to stop, and on some occasions hot water comes from the cold tap too and we have to let the hot water run for it to go cold again.

    On top of the above another nuisance is we could put the immersion on for a couple of hours to heat the water, use a small bit of hot water, go out and when we come back all the hot water is gone... and we have to put the immersion on again, this is starting to become a real pain.

    Any suggestions on what could be the main problem here or more than likely is there multiple problems with the plumbing ?
