Hi all, we are in the process of installing a wired alarm in the house, we advised not to go with the landline, but where we live the signal is very weak, the technician is advising to put what he called an international sim that send a text when the alarm goes off, but we need to sign a contract for a year & pay a monthly fee for this service.
We don't know much about alarms, can anybody please advise.
Is there any other way ?
    Very much appreciated.

    Hi AB64,

What HKC panel do you have ?

Its a GSM unit he was referring to. depending on the HKC panel you have, you can either have the plug on device that connects directly onto the panel, the other one is wired back to the panel. both do the same job.

if the signal is weak you may want to go with the wired one and place the GSM unit somewhere with a better signal.

The sim card that comes with the GSM unit requires a contract, you don't have to use this one and can just replace with another sim that you buy yourself and then just top it up accordingly as you wish and no contract will be required.

For convenience you can register the sim online and that way you can keep an eye on how much credit is left by logging in online without having the need to go near the panel and take the sim out.
