So.. I know one should not use tips as ones investment strategy however a trusted friend reckons after the Hep C drug comes out this stock should do well.

Do any of you learned investors have any opinions?

I think GILD is still a way better investment than ABBV.

One has to love the management of GILD, smashing earning reports, a great pipeline, leader in Hep C and HIV, growing at a phenomenal rate, share buy back and lots of cash for acquisitions.

Just think there is only one way GILD shares will be going in the coming years.
ABBV are lagging behind and I read their Hep C drug is a problem for 10% of users who suffer liver damage, unlike GILD's Sovaldi.

If you believe their Hep C drug will be successful then you could also look into investing in ENTA (ABBVs Hep C partner).

Here's a valuation model for ENTA.
