Sorry if Q has been asked before....

I can't renew my tax online as CVRT test needed to be done first - test passed now so need to tax today as it is out, my nearest tax office is in naas although car registered in Dublin - can I tax it there?
I tried phoning the office in naas but 3 times now I get the answering machine

If the address the car is registered to is in Dublin, I believe you have to go to a Dublin office - sorry :o

I've taxed cars in different counties before.

In Carlow they took and said next year it'll have to be done in Tipperary. In Louth they wanted an address that i was 'staying' at so I gave them one belonging to a friend.

You could always do it online. I can't remember why I didn't the second time but the first time I had no choice.

I can't do it online, no PIN issued as CVRT test was due

Have you tried to email them and ask for it? I've gotten it that way but I'm not sure how it is if the test is due. Worth a try.

It's hit and miss around paying motor tax in different counties, really can depend on which motor tax office you go to or who is behind the counter.

It's hit and miss anyway trying to get into your local office anyway. Opening hours/days can be awkward along with queues.

There used to be a sign up in some of the Dublin Motor Tax offices stating that they were happy to tax cars registered in other counties as long as you could provide a Dublin address, the registered address didn't need to change. I don't see why any other county would be different, it's revenue for them after all.

It's rarely ever that simple though especially if the person behind the counter didn't read the memo.

you can tax it in any tax office. The money goes into a central pot nowadays, not to the Co Council itself

Is that recently or is it as Bazz says? It's over 12 months since I taxed it in Louth.
