This is the older 3G model with no SD card slot and 8GB internal storage.
It is locked to Vodafone UK so you will need to get an unlock code from ebay, which only costs about €2.

This is sold directly by amazon and shipped to Ireland so you will not need to use Parcel Motel for this! :)

Ensure you select super saver delivery at checkout to get free shipping.

Please ensure the "Vodafone pay as you go option" is clicked and not the "Sim Free Smartphone" option, that one costs £129.

Couldnt find a BA thread on this specific deal, apologies if its a repost.

Note: there is a newer 4G model that has an SD card slot and 8gb internal storage for £150 on amazon delivered to Ireland, parcel motel not required.
Tesco direct also have it for £150 with a £10 off coupon for new customers but you will need to use parcel motel with them.

    See this thread for details.

Here's the main ebay seller people have used to unlock the phone:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorola-Moto-G-Mobile-Phone-Unlock-Code-/111223239973?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19e56bf525

That seller has sold over 12000 codes for the Moto G 3G at this stage and is the most recommended.

Xtravision have this model on Meteor for €149.99, about €20 more than this offer if my guess on the exchange rate is correct, they might be getting the 4G model in soon for the same price.

Only discovered a while ago that meteor themselves are doing the 4G version for €170 delivered which is the best deal at the moment, and saves you having to order from the UK....

Not sure if they're doing it in store yet.

    On Amazon?
There was no thread for it, so a lot of people will be seeing this deal for the first time (myself included).

What happens with the warranty when you unlock this Vodafone Moto G phone?

I know you lose the Vodafone warranty but will Amazon still support this phone for 1 year?

I mean with an unlocked Moto G sold directly by Amazon, they will repair/replace for the first 12 months. Is it not worth the extra to get this service?

Amazon should still cover it for a year.

Are you sure unlocking voids wartanty?

I don't think it does, it'd only rooting that voids warranty.

Also you can send it to Motorola with proof of purchase to avail of their warranty.

And also you can get out of warranty repairs in the UK and Ireland as they both have a Sale Of Goods act which states that all goods must last a reasonable amount of time

The Irish one doesn't state how many years is the limit, but the Statute Of Limitations imposes a 7 year limit to make a legal complaint, so 7 years is the theoretical limit.

If you don't believe me just look at Apples warranty section for Ireland and the EU.

It says EU wide laws cover you for 2 years minimum.

They're one of the few companies that are transparent about this.

    Know your consumer rights!

On Amazon the phone was usually around £135.

When I bought my Moto G near the end of December it cost me just over £94 ex ParcelMotel from Tesco Direct.

Really wish I had the 4G version though.

I see what you're doing, but for the sake of £3.50, maybe just order it from Amazon?

tbh I don't know that much about warranties but I was curious how it works with this phone.

All I know is I ordered a locked Tesco Mobile Moto E from Tesco Direct. Parcel Motel lost it and refunded. I then found on the Tesco Direct site that if you unlock the phone the warranty is invalidated with them.

In the end I re-ordered an unlocked one from Amazon, mainly as I know they offer fantastic customer service and will cover my phone for the first 12 months. After that Amazon say that Motorola will take over.

If Amazon cover you for unlocking this phone then you are on to a winner.
