Hey guys I've only recently got into golf (had a lesson yesterday 1st time playing) and I'm thinking about buying a set of clubs. However I don't think I could splash out on all at once so I'll probably buy a half bag! What clubs should I buy do you guys think?
Thanks in advance for any help

What would your budget be?! The reason being the majority of people here would suggest buying second hand, the clubs I'm using are all second hand with exception of 3 wood and putter. You'll save serious money if you buy second hand ( done deal or adverts).

I would say avoid the long irons for now, so get a driver, a hybrid maybe 23 or 24 degree, then 7 iron, Pitching Wedge, maybe a sand or lob wedge for bunker shots and a putter as a starting set. You'd get the lot for under €150 on adverts and that's of decent brands too.

http://www.adverts.ie/irons/wilson-stretch-xl-golf-clubs/6072538 Irons, putter driver and 3wood Should get them for €80

http://www.adverts.ie/golf/golf-bag/3603575 Bag- Should get it for €20

    Nike 3Hy http://www.adverts.ie/drivers/nike-vr-hybrid/5893730 €25'ish

    So all in €125

Then if you feel like you want a different iron, driver etc down the line you can upgrade individually

Thanks for the advice! I've been using 5,7 &9 irons, pitching wedge and 3wood so far! I was going to go down to McGuirks in Blanchardstown when I get back from my hols but would you recommend looking on done deal and adverts first?

If your ever near celbridge call into the pro shop there.

Got a lovely set of second hand nike irons for handy money last weekend!

Seen some well kept irons for €100-120 that would be great for a beginner!
