ACCA P2 - Independent Colleges & Liam Doran - Advice Needed!!

    Any advice is greatly appreciated....

I have three ACCA exams to finish (P2 and 2 options) and was thinking of enrolling in Independent Colleges on Dawson Street to do P2 with Liam Doran being the lecturer, (who from research on boards seems to be v well regarded). I'd be part-time on Monday evenings as I'm working full-time in town.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of Independent Colleges, P2 and Liam Doran and could they offer any insight / recommendation / advice?

From what I've seen P2's lining up to be my bogey exam so hence why I'm considering the structure of college life and benefits of live lectures as opposed to going the opentuition.com route which I've done for a lot of the Foundation exams.

Anyone with any nuggets? Thanks in advance

I did my P2 in DBS with Gary (I think?) and my close friend did hers in Independent college with Liam Doran.

Our conclusion was that it doesn't really matter who the lecturer is, at the end of the day, the curriculum is the same and I think it is more to the fact that you like the lecturer yourself.

I took Shane's P3 class in Independent and I absolutely hated him even though I know some people think he's great.

I found Gary in DBS to be very helpful albeit slightly boring but his exam techniques were fantastic and I passed P2 with 79%. My friend thought Liam was good but not fantastic or anything. She said he was like any other lecturer. She got 52% in P2.

P2 is a difficult subject but very doable and also very informative I found.

Whatever decision you make, I think P2 is about practicing and doing a lot of past exam questions regardless of the lecturer.

I done P2 with liam and I found him very good. I exepxted to have to sit the exam a few times because I knew it was going to be difficult but I passed first time and I genuinely think that is down to him.

I did P2 with Liam Doran and I passed first time. And like the Robin132, I put it all down to his quality as a lecturer. I have recommended attending his classes to a few colleagues of mine that will be doing P2 in December.

Have done P2 in Griffith before with Reg Callahan, lovely guy and good lecturer.

Need to sit it again and am also thinking of going with Liam Doran.

Has anyone done it with both of them by any chance and had a preference?

Went to Griffith. Reg is an excellent lecturer and his notes are excellent he also did a master class near the end and a good few of the questions he did came up on the exam. Passed it first time btw

I did it with Reg the 1st time, couldn't pass it, nothing to do with Reg but I had a lot going on at the time and knew I won't be able to pass it. Reg is a good lecturer.

Second time I did it with Liam, I have to say that Liam is the best lecturer I have had.

    Hi D33,

I'm doing P2 with Liam Doran as I did P1 in June and some of the students on that course recommended him for P2 as they had passed it with him and of those some had to resit the exam after being with a different lecturer previously.

He could be rubbish for all I know but given the great reviews by other students I got I would assume he's top of his game.

Best of luck with the exam

    Tom

Anyone have any experience of Michael Farrell in City Colleges? I would be taking the course online.

Mike is awesome. He is the best lecturer that I had during my time as a ACCA student. He has an extensive knowledge of the course. He has a 100% proven track record. Without a shadow of a doubt I personally would rate Mike very highly. He has a proven track record on the circuit. He may provide a free course for students who are unsuccessful.
