Emails from recruiters

I often get emails from recruitment companies about roles and I'm wondering if it's really necessary to respond to each one?

I'm not actively seeking a job right now, but always on the lookout for opportunities in my location. Most if not all the jobs I get emails about are based in Dublin. I'm not looking to relocate right not, so wondering if I need to reply to all of them to explain this, or can I just ignore the ones I'm not interested in.

What do others think about this?

I tend to receive a lot of these though they're usually blanket emails. It's amateurish IMO so I tend to ignore them.

I joined a number of recruitment agencies in 2004 and around 2012 -2014.. I kept getting e mails from them even thou I was not actively searching
And they never done anything for me anyway.
    I.just delete them in

The majority would be mail merges of their candidate database, sent if a keyword matches so they aren't writing you emails personally!

At least 1 per day if not more.

I ignore them if they are just canned emails. If they mention whom they're hiring for it will prick my ears up to maybe warrant a reply but otherwise no.

They mainly looking for you to reply so they can stick you on their mailing list.

I typically ignore e-mails from recruiters.
I get a few of them a week and most are the blanket kind as a previous poster stated.
Also most of the jobs advertised do not suit me at all and show that the recruiter is just sending out thousands of e-mails in the hope that 1/2 people reply.

Also, most e-mails end with a "if this is not a good fit for you please send it on to anyone who may be interested", umm no that is YOUR job!

I agree with this, if they won't / can't / don't tell me who the job is with then I'm not submitting my CV, after all a CV has to be tailored to the company you are applying for and I want to know who is receiving it before I submit it.

An example of an e-mail I got yesterday:

    Hi XXX,

I am currently working with a world-class Industrial XXXXXXX company, seeking a XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Having viewed your profile, I believe your experience within XXXX would be of great benefit to my client and I would love to put your CV to them for consideration.

Can you please send me through your CV to xx
@xxx.com and advise of a suitable contact number for me to give you a call on and discuss this opportunity further.

    Many Thanks and Kindest Regards

    xxxxx

So at least this person has put a bit of effort in and the e-mail seems personalised however they have not told me who the company is or anything about the role yet they want my CV ? Umm no, send me a job spec and then I'll consider submitting my CV!

If you refer somebody then most companies offer you a kind of "finders fee" if they go on to get the job from your referral.

I didn't know that thanks :) Although I would tend to just forward my colleague their contact details if I knew of someone who was interested, certainly wouldn't expect / ask them to tell the recruiter that I was the one who put them in touch.

i just got one of those when i called the guy and asked for more info he A) couldnt tell me who the client was which is fair enough, B) couldnt go into specifics on the technical requirements, not good how can i judge if i could actually do the job and C) couldnt be more specific on location other than "Dublin" so i told him that when he could provide all teh above info give me a call and I'll tak to him.

I tend to get one of these every few days.

I respond to the ones I see are specifically tailored to me, the rest I just have a flick through and delete.
