Strange story that apparently isn't even all that isolated - I remember reading about a very similar case with a German couple.

I feel very bad for these folks all the same - they didn't set out to do anything wrong, but what are they supposed to do now?

I remember a spate of pregnancies locally during the late 80's/early 90's and my mother saying there would be problems down the line when those kids grew up and started being sexually active as a lot of those girls were sleeping with at least 2 guys every weekend, so wouldn't be entirely sure who the father of their kids was. These things come home to roost. It was like an epidemic of pregnancies at that time.

It seemed to be a thing among circles of friends where 1 girl would get pregnant and then many of her circle of friends would get pregnant after the friends baby was born. My circle used to joke about it and say that it was like they saw the baby and decided they wanted one too.

Also it doesn't tell us if their daughter is ok or not.

Unless otherwise stated there's no reason to believe the daughter is not healthy. Inbreeding increases the risk of birth defects, but in the first generation the child is still much more likely to be healthy than not.

I know a guy who has fathered at least 10 children. On one memorable occasion his wife and another woman were in the same maternity ward having his children. I reckon those 10 are in and around the age of consent now so things could start hitting the fan now.

And I'd say he's far from the only one who was at that back in the day.
