abbreviations in accounting

Obviously as time and space (especially for consolidations) is an issue wondering, if it doesn't state in a form suitable for publication, is it acceptable to abbreviate headings eg non current assets -- NCA, PPE etc? or would I be penalized in the exam. Cheers.
