It really depends on what time you are doing each journey at.
Beaumont to Tallaght at off-peak times could take up to an hour or more by any route by-passing the M50.
Are you trying to avoid the M50 completely or just the toll?

Blanch lucan then the road tgat goes by Adamstown, stay on that and you get to tallagh near the belguard road.

Im going to get beaten with sticks for this but is cycling out of the question?

Bus + Luas Red Line but then that does involve using the red line (which i personally would avoid like the plague).

Can be done but it will add significantly to your journey.

Dublin Bus route 27 from Malahide Road via Greenhills Road to Jobstown?

Put your exact locations and relevant dates and times into www.a-b.ie and tweak the settings. Make sure you have selected "take neighbouring stops into account for origin and destination maximum 20 min walk".

Remember the Newlands Cross road works! :)

sign up for the tag, with the tag toll is just 2.10, which is nearly the same price as 1.25 litres of petrol. I have done a route similar to yours many many times, through the city and via m50, and I can tell ya, you will be burning far more fuel and time avoiding the m50..

I've had to delete a couple of posts on this thread.

    1) Keep it civil and constructive. Personal attacks are not allowed.
    2) Responding to people's posts and dragging the thread off topic is just bad. Report the post, not respond.

Tag, driving any other way is a false economy in time and money. Unless you are doing it very early or very late.

An hour from Beaumont to Tallaght at off-peak???? I currently drive from Drumcondra to Tallaght at around 6.45 am and it takes 25 - 30 mins max! I drive down Drumcondra Road - Dorset Street - Turn left onto Church Street - go through Crumlin and Walkinstown...

I do take the M50 home in the evenings though. Not a chance I'm driving through town with traffic!
