In my second year of college and looking to join the irish army as I have always wanted to,

I've been looking on the irish army website and can't find anything about how to go about applying for the army as a recruit, like would I have to email an office or is the application form you have to complete?

Any bit of advice or help would be apriciated thanks!

Are you looking to apply as a Regular or Reservist?

The DF fell pretty short of applicants this year apparently, even due to the large number they were trying to recruit so they should be reopening applications in September and sometime next year.

Your call, but to be honest you're 2 years in college so my advice for now would be to finish and get the degree while in the meantime applying to the RDF and see how you get on. It's what I've decided to do as sort of a test - to see if I'm actually physically & mentally suited for army life while also giving myself plenty of time to focus on my degree. The two would make you stand out hugely from the crowd when you apply as a Regular whether here or abroad, especially when it's a hands on & technical course eg. engineering.

You'd need to wait until they're recruiting again before you can apply, this'll be done through their website.

Deffo agree with joining the RDF in the meantime and finishing your degree. Then you can apply for the PDF.

Would fully agree with Lockstep - join RDF while you finish college then consider PDF from there.

The RDF (Army/Navy) have just begun recruiting again for Autumn 2014. Go to military.ie to find the links for the Recruitment process.
