My son put up some Holister, Abercombie ,superdry clothes for sale on gumtree. This fella has emailed him asking for a total price for whole lot plus postage. So it's a couple hundred euro. I asked him would he do PayPal, which he said yes. But he said he lives in uk but wants stuff delivered to his son in Nigeria!

I smell a scam of some sort but he said he will pay with PayPal first. Anyone an opinion on this!

    Thanks.

Absolute scam. Don't even continue entertaining them.

Just some friendly advice. You shouldn't be trading online if you even entertain - for one second - the idea of selling to somebody who gives Nigeria as their destination for delivery. Don't bother trying to work out if it's a scam, or how it can be - just don't go there.

Standard one is that you'll be sent a fake Paypal email claiming you were paid by an e-check and that it'll clear in X number of days. Except it doesn't exist.

Anyone asking you to internationally ship anything that is either common or awkward to ship is a scammer - or at least just treat it as such.

Stolen Paypal account, stolen credit card (and corresponding reversal of all payment once detected), faked paypal e-mail as per above, claims Paypal is giving problem but they'll send you a cheque instead etc.
