passat 2.0tdi vs 1.9tdi

    hi guys i am looking to buy a passat just not sure to get the 2.0tdi or 1.9tdi i currently drive about 3 hours a day mostly motorway looking at 07/08 models only issue i have is heard a lot of bad comments about the 2.0 engine, my current car is a passat 1.9tdi 130 brake 03

    2008 was the changeover year from the old 2.0 PD TDi to the newer CR engines. 1.9 TDi soldiered on for a while longer but in the B6 Passat it was only 105bhp so you will notice a substantial difference compared to your 130bhp version. 2007 2.0 TDi would have been the PD engine and they can suffer from injector failure (VW issued a recall on these) and oil pump balance shaft issues. Early CR engines can suffer from problems with EGR valves and oil pump balance shaft issues too.

    So really if it's under 08 the 1.9 is the best bet but 08 onwards the 2.0 I see a big jump in price from 07 to 08 but it looks like your better off paying it
