    Hi lads,

Have a set of side skirts that I need to ship to the US but because of their length, about 195cm, none of the normal couriers like anpost will take them and companies like FEDEX and DHL are looking ridiculous money, FEDEX were something like €300 and DHL were €130 but I have to drive to the depot in dublin to drop them off, I live in wexford. This is slowing up the deal. Does anyone know of a courier service that can do this for a half decent price, thanks for any help in advance lads.

€130 sound about right. Best thing to do would be to find a local business who uses UPS and have UPS collect the parcel from there.

Did you give DHL the actual measurements? There is no way they'll ship these for €130, unless someone makes a mistake. Many of the couriers (UPS for sure) won't take items over 175cm on their normal service 9would need to go on their freight service, which is much more expensive). If you're looking to get these sent for less than the €130, forget about it.

I would agree with this from trying to import Sideskirts from Asia, you could cut them in half and it might save some money and just get the buyer to bondo them together.

Hey lads, thanks for the advice, yes I did give DHL the measurements and weight over the phone and he quoted me €130 but as I said I would have to drop them off at their dublin center because their local centers don't accept items that large. I can't really cut them in half because the are worth quite a bit of money, so it's not really an option. Suppose that is my only option then, just thought somebody might have known of a courier service that specialises in auto parts, like paisleyfreight in the UK. But they do not ship from Ireland to the US.

Check that again with another DHL employee before you head for Dublin. I know from experience DHL won't ship an Item 195cm long on their regular parcel service (this is the only service they have available to the general public). Try booking it in on their website & see.

Did you try ringing DSV in newbridge for a quote? They ship odd-shaped and big stuff all the time. Good prices too.

    I googled the no - 045444777
