Depending on where you tag on, a different amount can be debited.

For being charged again when tagging off, it's possible the gate was not configured correctly.

    What journeys did you make?

The reason why it took 2.90 the third time you tagged on, is because the tag on amount adjusts depending on how close you are to the fare cap (Daily/Weekly).

Not sure why you had tagged on twice within 20-ish minutes.

Was it at the same station?

If you want to cancel a tag on, you need to make sue you do it with the right type of validator,

    Pole
    Gate (tag off side)

the gates are hardwired for tags on/offs to be directional, as in entering the platform, can only tag on, exiting the platform, can only tag off. If you do it in the wrong order you'll always be charged an extra tag on.
Depending on where you tag on, a different amount can be debited.

Unsure about Luas, but for Irish rail the tag on amount only adjusts with the amount for fare capping. It shouldn't matter how far you are down the line, because you could be going the other way.

well then it looks like you had tagged on a second time, when you were meant to tag off.

I rang Leap and they were quite helpful and said they will return the €4.60 onto my leap card :)

but... you've been overcharged by more that that.

You are due a credit back on the first 4.60 as well.

I went from Sutton to Howth which is €1.70 and back(so €1.70X2=€3.40) my balance at the start of the day was €11.35 so €11.35-€3.40 is €7.95 however my current balance is €3.35 so needs €4.60 to get it back up to €7.95

The balance column doesn't match the transactions:
either the second €4.60 deduction only actually deducted €1.70, or there's a €2.90 refund missing

I'm only noticing that now it is quite confusing alright. It was actually me on the phone who said it needs to be refunded by €4.60 and the Leap member of staff said "I'll look into it and refund what your owed the next time you tag on" so I hope he can get to the bottom of it

For the 2nd deduction it only took €1.70 from your balance not the full amount on the statement.
