Have you been told any stories and so on

Don't know anyone born in those circumstances, but I remember hearing that it was supposed to be a lucky omen...

1 in 80,000 live births

I've read the 1 in 80,000 is usually the caul on just the head but the whole body covered is more rear...
I've had some people tell me that when something bad happens to them (born in the caul themselves) something good happens right after..
Also bill Cullen was born this way too

I was in college with a chap from Fingal, claimed that he was born in the Naul.

For some clarification:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caul

A caul or cowl (Latin: Caput galeatum, literally, "helmeted head") is a
piece of membrane that can cover a newborn's head and
face./COLOR]1[COLOR=#0066cc
Birth with a caul is rare, occurring in fewer than 1 in 80,000 births. The caul
is harmless and is immediately removed by the physician or midwife upon delivery of the child.

The "en-caul" birth, not to be confused with the "caul" birth, occurs when
the infant is born inside the entire amniotic sac. The sac balloons out at
birth, with the amniotic fluid and child remaining inside the unbroken or
partially broken membrane.

Unless the father eats it straight after birth, it doesn't work.

That's why Tom Cruise is so successful.

This is what I was wondering. Well, once I learnt what it was and how it seemed pointless. Maybe it's how they get the cure...

Or at least, that is what those who apparently wanted to extort money out of sailors wanted to have us believe. :)

It is a (relatively) rare birthing incident only, rare enough to attract attention of the medical staff who have not seen it before, but otherwise I doubt there is any reason, superstitious or scientific, to attach any import or interest to the event.

Yep, it's just a curiosity with a few quaint superstitions attached.

Common misconception. He's a unique case, what happened was his scrotum is where his head should be.

Not half as bad as the smog goblin idiots.

And they don't come more jakeenified than Bill Cullen.

Have you read the shíte in his book about how lucky it is and how the 'Good Lord' sorted it out.
