    Hi,
I lived in northern Ireland all of my life and was claiming income support from Nov 13. I moved to the republic in march 14 and applied for disability as I have glaucoma. I only cancelled my income support last week (July 14) and got a letter today to state that I am no longer in receipt of benefits in the north. I'm starting to worry as I didn't cancel my income support in March what will happen? Stupid mistake I know! I was meant to be back dated from March so I know that won't happen but i'm just worried as to how they deal with these sort of things!
I.am.a.twat! Also, my income support was addressed to the north and every sick cert I left into the south also had my northern address on it.
    TIA

Did you cancel the income support or did SW in the North just cancel it without any notice from you?

    Hi mrsbyrne,
I cancelled it myself, I told them I'd moved to the south.

Hmmmm. I don't know if SW will try to recover money from you, I don't think they could while you are living in the South. On July 27 did you tell them that you had moved in March?
Anyway, DA will look into your application cos when you filled up the form you told them all your recent accommodation history. I will be surprised if you get DA on Habitual Residence Conditions and also glaucoma in itself alone may not be regarded as enough to prevent you from looking for work.

I told them I moved on 27/07. Stupid of me I know, actually don't know what was going through my head!! The DA officer said all I had to have done now was to be means tested and get a letter of proof that I wasn't getting anything from the north. So I got the letter yesterday but the officer has put on it that my benefits ended on the 27/07!! I'm going to have to send it in to her anyway just pooping my pants to say the least :(
