I can highly recommend it - a stunning course and possibly the best greens I've played on.

I can second this. Not a weak hole on the course and an absolute must play.

Not being unreasonable here, but 18 is a brutal hole, 9 is a poor hole, 7 is a poor hole, 15 and 13 are strange rather than good, and 10 is a curate's egg.

Still a fine course though. Very fine.

You are being a bit unreasonable there in my book. I agree that 7 and 18 are weak in comparison to others but 9 is a real tester of a par 3 and 13 and 15 are simply stunning holes.

At a push I'll give you 7 and 18 as being weak (still think they're nice) but the others you mention I cannot disagree more.

The 10th is a great hole. The second shot from such an elevated position with the view of the whole lake in front of you is stunning.

The 13th and 15th both driving over water sideways onto a fairway is wondrous.

I actually do like the 10th myself. But that so many people do not, surely it can't realistically be classed as a great hole.

13th and 15th are optical illusions in my mind. Don't get me wrong, views and scenery can and do make a difference between a good hole and a great hole (17th Pebble Beach, 9th RCD, 9th Turnberry, most of Castle Stuart spring immediately to mind).

But there's no great strategy involved in either of these holes. On 15, it's a two shot hole for anyone who hits a driver a reasonable distance, and by some distance it's the easiest par on the course. 13 just ends in the middle of fairway imho, and missing left or short has no real penalty. Moving the green 10 yards closer to the water would make it a proper risk and reward hole for longer hitters.

    just my thoughts!

Thumbs down for the 10th from me - the slope on the hole is comical :(

The 4th however is a beauty!

Played it the week before this event. The par 3s are weak, with the exception of the one early in the bk 9, think its 12 or 13. 10 needs to be played more than once imo, and I still wouldnt be mad about it. Par 5s and most of the par 4s are very good however, course is well worth a visit.

I played it once before a few years ago as a poor 28 handicapper and can only remember bits and pieces of it but this time round I am really looking forward to it.

I have just been looking at the hole by hole guide as playing it next Sat in our Societies Presidents Prize it is the last outing and I am currently leading in the golfer of the year by 2 points.

Played here with our society at the end of August. The weather on the day unfortunately was very bad, but nonetheless all loved it. I'd go back there in the morning to play it again.
