I have a cracked CX frame set, I am looking into getting it repaired.
I searched for threads here, but they are all quite old.
I am interested in any opinions on frame repairs or recommendations of people offering the service.
The crack in my frame is on the drive side chain stay.

Thanks for any help, I am really hoping to not have to fork out for a new frame.

I got mine done by Jim from purecomposites.ie and am very happy with the results.

search Carbon Tec on Donedeal they are based in Dublin. They have before/after pictures of damaged frames. They repair, paint match and replace decals.

BTW I am in no way affiliated or connected to them.

I picked up my frame from Jim yesterday. I haven't ridden it yet but it looks like he did a good job.

They seem very new. Have you any experience with their work. The images you refer to are examples of the cosmetic end of the repair. I am much more concerned that the frame is structurally sound.

I'd be interested in opinions. This has appeared on the bottom of the chainstay on my 12 month old De Rosa.

I would contact your shop and discuss your warranty and from the photos would not be confident riding it

This frame has been ridden quite a bit now and it's fine. Very happy with the repair job +1 for http://www.purecomposites.ie/

Don't have a carbon bike, but I know Wayne in Cycleplus Greystones is certified to carry out carbon frame repair. In all my other bike mechanical problems he's been excellent, but as I say I simply know that he was over in the US last year on a training course for carbon repair. Have no experience of his carbon repair work as such, just thought I'd let you know in case you're still looking for someone.

Give him a shout I'd say, and he'll be straight up as to what's required etc.

Hope this is of some help anyway.

In relation to my De Rosa R838, just got an email from Cristiano DeRosa from De Rosa Bikes Italy after sending them photos. They aren't giving away too much but it seems they want to see the bike. BTW, it's outside warranty.

It's going to be costly to get the bike to them. Did they say where they want to see the bike, in Italy?

In Italy. Won't be costly in comparison to the price for the frame itself and considering it's only 12 months old. I'll take everything off the bike.

They have agreed to check the frame and given me an address.

Just curious - any particular reason why you think the frame got broken? Did you have a particular crash or what?

I wonder, if I broke my Planet X frame, and sent it back, would I get an email from Xavier Planet.

As long as you didn't send it to Athlone......

No crash. There was no explanation for the cracks. The bike was about 12 months old. Started to hear a noise from the bottom bracket, took it to the bike shop and they spotted the cracks.

Anyway, fair play to De Rosa. They are sending me a 2013 version but it's still newer than the frame i had which was the 2012 model.

I had a similar problem with a ridley orion frame, never crashed and about 12 months use and it developed a crack on the frame, sent it back to Madison in the uk via the irish retailer and I got a snotty email response and the frame returned to me, I can safely say I won't ever buy a ridley or a Madison distributed product again. Dreadful customer service. Avoid is my advice, and I used to recommend ridley before.... Never again
