Regulations around the behaviour of charities

I was wondering if there are any regulations about how charities may conduct themselves? I'm in particular wondering about a charity acting in a belligerent way towards a member of the public, where the internal complaints procedures of the charity aren't being made available to the member of the public. Are there any avenues of external complaint specific to charities that the member of the public could pursue?

No, although the new Charities Regulator is being established.

I think you need to give more context here what the complaint is. Is the person a fundraiser, employee whose work is funded by the charity, other employee ...

Generally, internal complaints procedures are internal and not public. So if you make a complaint, the organisation don't necessarily have to reveal how the deal with the complaint. Have they acknowledged your complaint?

At least one high-ranking employee appears to be using the charity's good name to damage the reputation of a member of the public. This employee is the one who receives complaints, hasn't acknowledged the complaint, and so the member of the public has nowhere else to go.

Go to a solicitor for advice. Sounds like the grievance has become a personal one for both parties.

A long overdue development. The entire charity area is wide open for abuse and corruption.

I'm sure that once regulation is in place, it will catch up with the levels of institutional corruption and inefficiencies that is present in state agencies ...
