HI all, was wondering if anyone has came across some casement type windows that would be a decent alternative to sash. House style really needs the sash look without the sash prices

You can get casement windows that are dressed up a bit to look like sliding sash. They're not always that convincing though.

They don't look convincing at all. Personally, I feel honesty is the best policy in houses. If you can only afford casement windows, do your research on what you think works on other houses and get prices. PVC sash windows can work OK, but obviously never look as amazing as timber. I have seen plenty of period houses that look well with modern aluminium flush casement frames.

I didn't want to go with sash windows so went with these (each side open inwards).

Have you visited any showrooms yet and talk through styles with them? You can get casement window that have thick bars or thinner bars running through them. Okay they're not sash windows but they can have a country look to them. Worth dropping into a showroom or two - would recommend someone who manufacturers their own windows rather than smaller places that sell on someone elses windows - google window manufacturers ireland and you'll find a few.

Yes it can be done... Personally I think the narrow vertical bar looks best.
