What is the best day MON-FRI to go planespotting at Dublin Airport?

Do certain long haul flights only operate on certain days? (e.g Air Transat, Aer Lingus DUB-SFO)

Most days during the summer season you're going to catch everything daily. Here's a link to the Dublin airport summer timetable, might be of some help in deciding what day to turn up. Saturday would be good if you can make it , you'll have the EY 777 going out in the morning usually followed by the AF cargo 777 arriving and shortly after the EK 777 as well as the usual EI heavies and American carriers.

As above but time it for the Air Canada Rouge flights as they are only 4x per week. Monday Wednesday Thursday and Friday.

Aim to be at the airport for 8am onwards as you will catch everything then either landing or departing at some stage.

The only good reason for dropping people to the airport at stupid o'clock is getting back to the runway to see the morning rush. I don't be out that way much but it was great to be there a few weeks back watching the aer lingus land from the states and atc using both runways. You don't see the time pass.

If you can't do Saturday, then Friday is best day after 8am:

    WestJet 08.20
    Air Transit 08.35
    Etihad 09.20

Then there is the usual 757, 767, 777 and 330 flights up to 1 pm.

Friday is the busiest day of the week at Dublin:-)

Almost 540 airliner movements are scheduled to operate
(400 of them are Aer Lingus & Ryanair flights).

I went today, and it was great. Very busy, and loads of American carriers, and long-haul traffic.

The one thing that I thought was strange, was that there were very few Aer Lingus A330s landing and taking off.

I only saw two A330s ,EI-EAV and EI-DUZ, in a two and a half hour trip. I got a great view view of EI-EAV, but then just as I was leaving, EI-DUZ took off without me knowing beforehand, and I did not get the chance to get a good glimpse of it.

What would be the best day to see Aer Lingus A330s on?

If you were there around 8am, you missed the TA arrivals which come in very early, with the later wave arriving ahead of schedule before 8. Bit unlucky that! Maybe a thursday afternoon might be good. If you got there before 2pm you should get the FAO and AGP flights arriving back in, plus the MCO departure all in the space of about half an hour or so. (All going to schedule). If you were to stay tip about 4.30pm you'd see the late JFK and BOS departures and the ORD arrival too.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to correct me if i've missed one :)

    Everyday, lol.

I think it is a Tuesday where Ethiad doesn't have the morning flight. But Air Transat has a A330 on that day so kind of makes up for it. Other than that, every day is mostly the same.

Air France has a Boeing 777F on the Sat/Sunday. It varies and every so often their Boeing 747-400F comes in instead.

As above, everyday is EI A330 day. However time of day is important.

EI have 7 A330 at DUB. I read elsewhere that this Summer they have 7 departures on 5 days, while the other 2 days have 6 departures. So from 1030-1200 you can see the early departures to JFK,BOS,ORD, the later departures to those airports are at approx 1530-1630. (Late ORD flight 4x weekly however)

SFO and MCO are not daily but the EI.com timetable tells me they departure at 1220 Mon,Wed,Fri,Sat,Sun and 1400 Tues,Thurs,Sat respectively.

    http://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obel01im1/bookonline/timeTables.do?topnavtab=information_tab

So between 1030 and 1430 you should manage to catch approx 5 EI A330's, not to mention the EK/EY B777/A330's, as well as all the US carriers with their A330/B757/B767's.

    EY have 2 daily flights since around 15 July, 6 777, 8 330.

The airport essentially operates on 90 or 120 minute (give or take) cycles. Everything goes out from 6 to 7.30 am. more or less and starts to return by 8.30. It goes quiet from about 10 on, then it picks up after 11, gets a bit quiet again, then kicks off around lunch time and so on. Essentially, if you miss some of the domestic/short-range stuff, it'll reappear on the next cycle. A lot of the aircraft going to Central Europe won't come back until late or the next day. Also, some of the more interesting stuff ends up on the Light aircraft parking area or on the freight ramp or on the remote stands and is less visible to the spotter, unless you are prepared to drive around the fence to the Swords side.
