    Hey guys,

I'm just wondering does anyone know of any garages anywhere at the minute taking on first year light mechanic apprentices? My boyfriend has tried absolutely everything possible and is really struggling to find anything at all.
He's just after graduating from LIT from an automative engineering course.. And has other automative related courses uder his belt, but literally cannot get in anywhere.. He'd know his way around a car and also farm machinery. He's also been applying for loads of apprenticeships on Fas but all have declined him. Can anyone give any advice??

Best thing he can do, is go in person to every garage around him and within a reasonable distance and ask if they have any work. I'll stress the in person bit. Don't email or call, go in and have a chat with the service manager in bigger dealerships or just the owner in smaller places. It's hard work to come by but to give himself a good shot, he needs to go and make a great impression and stand out from anyone else looking for work. I'd never take someone on unless he came in and had a decent chat with us. Best of luck

Forgot to mention that he's gone in to all the garages near by and they all said that they don't want an apprentice or they can't afford to insure him as they have too much staff etc. Might tell him to just go in again to them even if they turned him away the first time - just to show how much he's interested, because I know how much he wants it! Thanks very much for your advice!
