    Does anyone have any additional info on this race? I know they have ran a similar race in December. Just wondering about it's organisation (good/bad) and what type of field it attracts.

    50/50 about signing up so if anyone had any info, great!

    Found a bit more info in another thread here and on their Facebook page here.

    Looks like nice 10k. I'm a big fan of that hill, tempted to pop along to it myself now actually...

    Got my race info via email this morning.

    * Road not closed
    * No parking
    * No changing facilities
    * No toliets
    * No t-shirt (not too bothered about this, although it is 18EUR for a 10km)

    Not very well organised it seems. Sure will see on the day how it pans out.

    Hmmmm.....not too sure now! Doesn't look like you get a hell of a lot for your entry fee. I wonder if they expect you to run on the path?? It's quite narrow.

    I don't know the area so don't know what the path / road is like there. This is from the info email:
    The route will be on the left path going up the hill until the
    cross over (along the stretch of Carrickbrack Road 100-
    200m from the Summit Inn) and again on the left path
    coming back down.
    N.B. Roads are open so please take care of all traffic.
    Rules of the road apply. Do not cross the road or run on
    the road unless it is safe to do so.

    Is this the narrow path you mentioned?

    It's not the widest. I guess it really depends on the numbers running. Wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of people using the side of the road.

    I've signed up. The path is ok. Not great, but plenty of room on the side of the road really. If it's wide enough for cyclists and cars, it's wide enough for the race.

    Think I will sign (think the deadline is tonight). Ran the route last week unintentionally. It's a tough climb but the hardest part for me was the kick back up on the descent. Although that section give you a breather on the climb so not all bad! The climb from the pub to the carpark is perhaps the steepest part, luckily it's short enough.

    Looks a bit dodgy from a commercial perspective but let us know how you get on. Hopefully the "malahidecastlers" are a decent bunch.

    From the looks of their facebook page, their last event seemed to go well. Small enough looking scale, but I like the community feel of small races so fingers crossed it's a good one.

    Going to chance turning up on the day and registering then. I really can see it fill up to 500 entrants, with everything else going on.

    Do like the route though, used it for my MLR and hills for DCM last year. Wonder will they use the Thormanby road bit to the summit car park and turn, to split out the field ? It pretty steep up there !!!

    I think you'll be safe enough turning upon the day. I asked and they said it'd be no problem.

    Here's the route: https://www.facebook.com/Summer10kmSeries/photos/pb.475405599173832.-2207520000.1407405838./667619023285821/?type=1&theater

    After looking at the similar race photos on their Facebook Page, it looks like a no frills event. That is fair enough but the question is if it's worth he 20e entry fee. Hmmmm!

    Think I'll drop out and reg on the day for this one. Handy paced run back along the coast towards Killiney after the race if anyone's interested?

    Might join you for the run home actually. As long as it's a fairly easy pace - Greystones tri the next morning so don't want to over-do it.

    Lovely morning for it in the end. Got about the same time as DLR Bay, so considering the hill, I'm happy enough with that.

    I definitely need more hill practice, the flats and downhills were noticeably faster today.

    Slightly dodgy having the roads open as we ran but with numbers as low as they were, and with the marshals helping at the road crossover, it was managed well. Still not sure where the entry fee all went. At least we got some bananas.

    Enjoyed the race myself. Decent turnout for a relatively small and little advertised race.

    Lovely day for it, strong sun and a high tide made for great scenery at the start line just opposite st Fintans Church in Sutton.

    440 feet of climbing over the 3.1 miles of the race made for tough going on the first half, second half a obviously simple, except for a small blip at mile 5.

    Overall great race, running on open roads was fine as they were pretty quiet. Will be back for another go next year...
