Starting off to busk?

Hey I'm not entirely sure if this is in the right section but sure it can be move if it's not.

I am just curious how exactly do I start off busking. I'm assuming there is some sort of protocol, I seem to get the impression that you can't just go out and do it.

So yeah much to say about it. I just play guitar and sing, I don't believe in using amplification while busking, so it makes it simpler to do. I just want to know if there is anything I should know before I start.

One of the most important things is to clear it with Revenue which will help facilitate compliance with tax obligations on your projected income, if any.

You may be required to audition in front of your local council, to determine whether there is a public need for the sort of entertainment you wish to provide.

In the event that you are successful, you may be allocated a busking position.
Don't expect a prime spot on the main thoroughfare though, it will probably be on a lane or side street.

This is for an initial period of 6 months, and is subject to review and may be revoked at any time, if for example your reportoire is deemed offensive or not in the public interest.

I would urge you to fully consider whether this career path is the right one for you.

Question why you want to do it and what people will get from your performances.

PS Don't even consider doing Knockin on Heavens Door, you could end up in casualty! !

    Hope this helps.

It amazing the amount of red tape for this kind of thing. I was planning to start on a side street anyway.

I want to really just do it for practice and help give more volume and tone to my voice.

Is there any good websites for it?

Just go out and do it. As long as your not blocking a shop, you'll be left alone!
