Hi All, I suffered a femur fracture (near hip) start April from a cycling accident and hope to be getting back on bike soon. I know there is protection shorts from the likes of POC/Fox etc that mtn bike guys use to protect hip joints, tail bones etc. Would ye be able to recommend a good protection short brand from experience please? Thanks

Shorts generally don't have any worthwhile protection in them. I had some O'Neal shorts with a thin foam pad (~3 mm) running down the thigh but it didn't seem to be of any use.

Instead, I would advise you to do some weight-bearing exercise, like jogging or weight lifting. Road cyclists suffer from low bone density because their weight is supported by the frame. This doesn't provide the stimulus for strong bones as the aforementioned activities do.
